A thought regarding gold silver ratios: I don't think the main idea is that there is a causative relationship between the price of the two metals. However there does seem to be a relationship between the two metals that when trading at certain ratios and swapping your positions in them tends to bring a successful outcome over time. (The points made about too many people entering and exiting the ratio trade at the same time and that effect on price and premiums and discounts is well taken).
I'm thinking one could find some other pairs of assets that might bring similar results.
This happens all the time with savey stock traders that have a winning strategy and are trading dollars for stocks and stocks for dollars, right?
Some investors are not traders. Some investors are not in a position to purchase land in a foreign country as they are perhaps, just beginning to grow a portfolio and their wealth. Why not suggest they hold portfolio wealth in Ounces rather than fiat dollars in a rigged system? Sometimes, monetary FREEDOM is equally as important to focus on as to where to invest or park fake dollars. Until there is a change in consciousness, being your own bank and focusing on putting SOUND MONEY back into the system is a great concept that needs to be shouted from the rooftops.
Silver and gold traded up in parabolic form. As a comparison, look at the chart of Cisco Systems from about 1996 to 2003. Increasing at an increasing rate until the parabola collapsed. Cisco has still not recovered to its Dot Com high. This bull market in silver and gold are, IMO, over. Too much technical damage was done to recover soon. The real tragic thing I think is that it was very hard to sell silver. Retailers were refusing to buy or offering way below spot. There were no bids on constitutional coins (90% silver). Was it engineered? Rigged? I don't know. But what I do know is that there are hundreds of examples of parabolic markets that take many many years to recover.
‘Cheap’ is relative. $80 sulver might be considered expensive now but compared to what? If it goes to $300 in the next few years then $80 is cheap
