The reserve ratio is zero, but that does not make bank lending unlimited. Capital rules still matter. So do liquidity rules and borrower demand.

agreed. Basel III etc. Just not limited by reserve ratios anymore..

Informative. John - it will help me if you will stop using the term MONEY when the term currency is more accurate. Thank you for your attention in this matter. 😎

you are absolutely right., Dart Driver. Thank you.

Well written, and thank you. Everyone that I know that has purchased a mortgage through FHA has paid on time, and are grateful for the loans. There is also an understanding with an FHA lender to try to help the people purchasing such loans to stay in their houses. I cannot see young people during these trying times getting a loan in any other way. Most cannot come up with the down payment for a conventional loan, and usually have help from parents, and are working steadily while working on their credit. I would bet that there are less foreclosures with this method than among the so called elites, who buy the $700,000 houses and above, but live the party lifestyle, and bankrupt themselves early on. Just some thoughts.

Well imagine early 20th century some of the highest paid employees were General motors. 5 ounces of gold/month if memory serves. Extrapolate that today approx. $4000X60 ounces a year. 🤔

Conclusion, I get it, although it might arrive slightly differently, or less drastically, but ultimately irresponsible spending results in : "Crap.

That’s the wind-down of the multi-year wind-up of a fiat money system serving as the reserve currency of the world.

In the next letter (letter 3 of this series), we’ll discuss some ways to position yourself to not get so totally screwed, and maybe even win a bit." I'm looking forward to that.

John Hunt does a fantastic job. His writing is easy to read, and the information is timely and relevant to what's happening in my world. I really like the improvement in Crisis Investing has seen with John Hunt on board. Keep up the great work!

Whoa! I didn't know this:

"since 2020, it should be known as “no reserve banking,” because the reserve ratio has been zero since then."

Yes insane right ?

Not much backing the dollar now. Maybe I should borrow a bunch of dollars and pay them back when they go closer to zero. LOL
