It would be nice to live in the country you describe, but I live next to an Uruguayan slum. I understand the rosy view some foreigners have of the place, but it is still amazes me. The country is a neo-communist s'hole and is turning into India. Better than other places in South America? Maybe, but not great either.

Thank a lot for this profound article full of valuable information. I do not plan for leaving Europe, but each time the new totalitarism and the voluntary destruction of our continent shows its heads, I start looking for places ...

and Uruguay was one of the possible ones. We just had to start to learn Spanish :-)

Most Americans leaving the US are entrepreneurs, investors, or retirees that don't like nor want woke bs

That's true. But, there are some good ones. And if they come with the right attitude; to integrate and to add value, I think they'd be welcomed as I have been.
