It is obvious a civil war is coming. We will crack up into numerous small communties. Hopefully we will then be left alone.

Scary times demand a tough informed response. It is up to all of us to fight against all radical violent perps, especially the radical leftist media that is largely responsible for the hate speech that influences violent behavior.

This is just a step on the path to a larger conflict. Forces are arrayed to ensure it gets worse. Conflict drives clicks and ratings, so cable news and social media continue to promote it. It's in their interest to do so, and so it will only progress.

Nearly all major cities are controlled by one political party. It will become increasingly unsafe for those not in that party to remain among the blue tribe, and so we will continue to self-sort.

The political parties now openly redraw districts to entrench themselves. This will enhance the self-sorting.

Our adversaries are incentivized to fan the flames of division. Yuri Bezmenov's timeline might have been a tad aggressive, but what he described is still afoot. A growing segment of our country advocate Marxist policies in various guises.

And, we have a federal government incapable of reigning in spending, and unwilling to refrain from sponsoring senseless conflicts.

There will either be a "turning point" or a "tipping point." The latter seems far more likely, at least from my vantage point.

"mainstream Christian values"? hmm. That might be the scariest thing here.

Good essay. Yugoslavia is my biggest fear for America's future also. If there is still any chance for the Czechoslovakia exit our society needs to do whatever it takes to get on it.

Considering that there are about five people in the Federal government that actually might see being the adult in the room as a good thing, I am not hopeful

The “belief” of leftists and their conviction in their fight against perceived “evil” is inexplicable. How can a human brain be so convinced that murder is justifiable based on another’s thoughts!!!

Scary indeed.

RIP Mr Kirk, God bless your family. 🙏

Well said, Lau. Thanks for taking the time to rationally review what happened in both murders, what precipitated them, the dangerous reactions, and the implications for America. We need to shake ourselves awake, step out of the echo chambers, and recognize those folks are our neighbors, not our enemies, and calmly ask them to recognize the same about us.
